Due to the performance limitations of Linux-based NVRs, such as the ND series, playback at speeds higher than 1x is designed to play only I-frames to reduce system load. If the camera or NVR is configured to reduce the number of I-frames in order to lower bandwidth usage, playback may become more choppy or jumpy.
To minimize choppy or jumpy playback, adjust the following settings:
(1) Turn off Dynamic Intra Frame Period for the camera’s recording stream. The default recording stream is usually Stream 1.
(2) Lower the Intra Frame Period value to add more I-frames per second to the recording.
(3) Turn off Activity Adaptive Streaming (AAS) on the NVR.
